From USA TODAY Network and wire reports Alabama Montgomery: State lawmakers have inched closer to approving a ban on so-called vaccine passports that would require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to access services from a business or state agency. The House Health Committee voted Wednesday to send the bill to House of Representatives for a vote. It has already cleared the Senate. The bill contains a number of exceptions. Surgeons, dentists, medical institutions, hospitals and other health care providers are exempted. Universities could still require students to receive a vaccine; however, there would be exceptions for vaccines approved for “emergency use” by the FDA, as is the case with all three COVID-19 vaccines given in the United States thus far. The idea of vaccine passports is to have a document that shows a person has been inoculated against COVID-19. 1,973 new COVID-19 cases in MN; state to increase testing in schools

ST. CLOUD Of the 1,973 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases reported across the state Thursday, 65 were in Stearns County, 67 were in Sherburne County and 32 were in Benton County, according to a daily report from the Minnesota Department of Health. According to Thursday s report, 10 more Minnesotans have died from COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, Stearns County has reported 21,264 cases of COVID-19 and 219 deaths, Sherburne County has reported 10,794 cases and 80 deaths, and Benton County has reported 5,398 cases and 97 deaths, according to the report. Statewide, the number of people who tested positive for COVID-19 reached 562,420  on Thursday and 7,054 people have died, according to the health department.
