King Council approves apartment complex

By Neill Caldwell neill.caldwell@thestokesnews.com KING Meeting Monday night, the City Council approved a rezoning request that will allow a new apartment complex to be built on Newsome Road. The request, from the BTR Communities Group of Lewisville, was for rezoning a 7.99 acre site to a conditional use permit for multi-family residential units. Bill Scantland, representing the developers, said the project would be very similar to the Conrad Corners apartments, on Conrad Corners Circle behind AutoZone and the King Kitchen, which was approved by the Board about five years ago. This new Newsome Road complex may be slightly larger, he said, as the Conrad location has 60 units and this one has been approved for 80. The apartments will be one-, two-, and three-bedrooms, in five two-story buildings. Rent for these apartments will be on a scale based on income.
