BCF holds Spring 2021 Commencement Ceremony Posted on “Never, never, never settle for normal. If you do, don’t tell anyone you graduated from The Baptist College of Florida,” stated BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen during a motivating and moving commencement address to graduating seniors of the spring 2021 class. The graduation ceremony was held on May 21, outside at the Grand Bobby Pavilion located in historic Heritage Village on the beautiful campus of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville. The college was filled with excitement as family, friends, faculty, and staff arrived early, many traveling from great distances, to celebrate the momentous culmination of hard work, diligent study, and dedication the graduating seniors put into fulfilling the requirements for their degree.

Fairmont Arts & Humanities Commission to present its 2021 awards on Sunday

Times West Virginian 2 hrs ago FAIRMONT — After canceling the 2020 awards event amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fairmont Arts & Humanities Commission will present its annual awards May 23 at 3 p.m. at Central Christian Church. This year’s honoree are choral director and vocalist Sam Spears, musical composer Daniel Eichenbaum, Fairmont State theatre major Ashley Doyle, Fairmont Senior High saxophonist Phillip “Nicky” Keefover, North Marion High theatre student Alyssa Baston and East Fairmont High trumpet player Roan Dworaczyk. Most of the awardees for music will perform and the visual artists will display some of their works. Because of the continuing pandemic, only family members and friends of the awardees as well as faculty mentors of the four student awardees are invited to the ceremony, which will be livestreamed on the Commission’s Facebook page. Social distancing and masks will be expected of all attendees.

The Music and Worship Division of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) will present their annual Spring Concert on May 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the BCF Wellness Center located in the heart of the Graceville campus. BCF faculty and students have been working diligently in anticipation of the event that highlights the incredible musical talent within the Music and Worship Division. In addition to showcasing the amazing skill of BCF students, this year there will be a special time of recognition honoring retired Music Professor Buford Cox and wife, Judy. Cox has served as a distinguished Professor of Music at The Baptist College of Florida for well over 25 years, teaching courses in piano, music theory, music technology, graduate courses, conducting, and so much more. Students of any major can qualify for up to $2,000 for participation in the college’s Model United Nations, Model Arab League and music ensembles. “The Model United Nations and Model Arab League provide extraordinary experiences for Aquinas College students, and our music ensembles are at the creative heart of the college,” said Steve Germic, Aquinas provost. “We want to do all we can to grow these programs and make them available to students regardless of economic circumstances.”
