With many Irish people mourning the closure of their local pub, the Trinity Long Room Hub is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by asking what place the Irish pub holds in our history and culture. How did people use pubs in the past, and what was the popular attitude towards them? Famous the world over, is the Irish pub indeed an imagined space embedded in the concept of “Irish hospitality”?

Many of us struggle to fall asleep (or go back to sleep after waking during the night) because we just can’t seem to switch off our minds. For others, stress and worry and fear about being unable to sleep make it almost impossible to relax and get a good night’s sleep.
For times like this, relaxation techniques are a great way to calm the mind, help you relax, and prepare you for sleep. I’ve already covered a number of breathing and relaxation techniques for sleep and I’ve written about the benefits of mindfulness therapy for sleep. Today I want to discuss (and guide you through) a very specific relaxation technique known as progressive muscle relaxation.
