Is this the worst of times? Riots, looting, mob violence, disease, murder, Bolshevism as the New Religion? Phonies everywhere?
If you’ve been around awhile, you know, “We’ve been here before.” The sixties and early seventies bet there’re a few who wish they’d known as much then as they thought they did. The news of the past weeks has especially brought those turbulent years back to mind.
If you’re a youngster, you’ve probably never heard of the Weather Underground. Or Bill Ayers. But some of us olders have. You see, in the 1960s, Bill, son of Thomas G. Ayers, chairman and chief executive officer of Com Ed, and for whom the College of Commerce and Industry is named at Northwestern University, became co-founder of the Weather Underground. Wikipedia says Bill was an “American elementary education theorist,” whatever that means, at the time.
Dhofar, Brunel varsities sign academic deal
MUSCAT, 6 days ago Dhofar University, represented by the College of Commerce and Business Administration, signed an academic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brunel University London to enhance its endeavour to consolidate academic links with prestigious international universities. “The MoU included many aspects of academic cooperation between the two universities, such as academic, research and developmental collaborations and exchanges of students, faculty and researchers. This will enhance the skills, knowledge and scientific capabilities of faculty and students and will be beneficial for the labour market,” said a press release issued by the university. The MoU was signed by Professor Hassan bin Said Kashoob, Vice-Chancellor of Dhofar University, and Prof Trevor Hoey Vice-Provost International and Academic Partnerships of Brunel University, an Oman Observer report said.

For Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong, returning to her hometown to start a business after graduating from university was the best decision she ever made.

In 2014, after graduating from the College of Commerce in central Da Nang City, Phuong, from Central Highlands Dak Lak Province, stayed in the city to work.
However, she struggled to find a job that suited her and decided to return to her hometown in Phu Loc Commune, Krong Nang District.
