“We’re very proud to partner with Quezon City government, and yes the vaccination site that was chosen was the College of Human Kinetics which is a beautiful site,” OCTA research and UP Professor Ranjit Rye said in a virtual press conference on Thursday.
Rye said that the site is already being prepared for the partnership with the local government.
“It’s already being prepared and we’re excited to contribute to the collective efforts of Quezon City as far as vaccination is concerned,” he said.
“Ideal vaccination site because it’s a big gym po, very big gym and much bigger than the public schools gym that we have, maybe two or three times bigger,” he added.

Among the areas that will stay closed are the whole Academic Oval, College of Human Kinetics, Philippine Association of University Women-UP Child Study Center, National Science Complex, and bike routes.
“This is in compliance with the announcement of Malacañang placing NCR (National Capital Region), Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal under enhanced community quarantine,” UP Diliman said in a statement.
Meanwhile, UP campus residents are allowed to do outdoor exercises within their respective areas/purok, provided that they will strictly observe safety protocols, such as wearing of face masks and physical distancing of at least two meters.
QUEZON CITY, March 11 Sports education in higher education institutions (HEIs) will enjoy an added boost with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), which will upgrade the skills of tertiary coaches, trainers and faculty members by providing short courses, trainings, accreditation and licensing.

This cooperation was forged through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between CHED Chairman J. Prospero E. De Vera III and PSC Chairman William Ramirez on 10 March 2021.
The Commission, together with PSC, will also formulate a unified tertiary school sports development program to ensure that the HEI’s Sports Development Plans are aligned with the national sports agenda and benchmarked with international standards.

Diaz named as Philippines Chef de Mission for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics
Chef de Mission for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Diaz, a dean at the College of Human Kinetics at the University of the Philippines, takes up the role as preparations build ahead of the Paralympics - due to take place in seven months’ time.
The Philippines sent a team of five athletes to Rio 2016, with table tennis player Josephine Medina clinching bronze.
So far only swimmer Ernie Gawilan has booked a place at Tokyo 2020, although Medina is expected to seal a spot once.
Doubts remain over the staging of this year’s Games due to the coronavirus pandemic.
