The main awards may have gone to the north of the county but there was plenty to celebrate in the south of the county when the results of Louth Looking Good 2020 were announced virtually last Thursday night (10th). Leading the prizewinners were Monasterboice Tidy Towns who won the Adjudicator’s Award for their comprehensive, pollinator friendly work programme while committee member Kathleen Smyth was Runner Up in the prestigious Environmentalist of the Year Award. Killineer Cottages, always among the winners, came second in its category this year rounding off a terrific performance for marvellous Monasterboice. The fishing village of Clogherhead was also highly placed on the winners podium winning the Most Improved Award with the adjudicators expressing amazement at the transformation in the village in the twelve months since their last visit while neighbouring villages of Sandpit and Termonfeckin were acknowledged with Special Merit Awards for their ever improving work program
