Retail giant Walmart along with its associates Flipkart, PhonePe and others have come forward to expand support for Covid-19 relief efforts in India. The company on Friday (30 April) said that it would use its global resources to counter the severe oxygen shortages in the country and support the vaccination drives.

Retail giant Walmart on Friday announced that it will donate up to 20 oxygen-generating plants and 20 cryogenic containers for oxygen storage and transportation to India, as well as more than 3,000 oxygen concentrators and 500 oxygen cylinders for delivering oxygen therapy to patients at home or in hospital. These are being sourced globally and will be donated to hospitals and NGOs in India for distribution as the country gasps for oxygen amid the lethal second Covid wave. Walmart, the Walmart Foundation, Flipkart and PhonePe, along with Walmart s Global Technology and Sourcing hubs, are collaborating to counter oxygen shortages. Walmart is a global family. The latest fundraise by Urban Company also saw the participation of two new investors –
DF International and
$2 billion, according to reports.
According to filings made with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Urban Company issued
2,613 equity shares and
50,490 compulsory convertible preference shares (CCPS). This latest round of capital infusion takes Urban Company into the coveted unicorn club as it was last valued at around $933 million during its funding round in 2019.
