Iran’s FM preaches regional dialogue in Baghdad as Tehran flexes muscles
There were no signs Tehran was willing to rein in its proxy militias in Iraq as they continue their attacks aimed at pressuring the United States to withdraw its troops from the country.

BAGHDAD – Iran’s foreign minister on Monday praised what he described as Iraq’s efforts aimed at bolstering regional stability through “negotiations and understandings” in the region.
Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke to reporters during a visit to the Iraqi capital.

The head of the Catholic Church may visit Lebanon soon.
Pope Francis met with Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri in Vatican City today. The pope offered his best wishes to Lebanon, describing the economic and political crisis in the country as a “moment of great difficulty and uncertainty.” He also said he hopes to “visit the country as soon as conditions are favorable,” according to a Vatican press release.

“I was baptized there. My parents were married here. My wife, she was baptized there.”
Ghazala, a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Lake Oswego, moved to the United States around age 27 and has lived here ever since.
As the pope traveled through the Middle Eastern country, Ghazala recognized so many places.

Metro Detroit s Chaldean Catholic community hopes Pope Francis recently completed pastoral visit to Iraq strengthens and restores some of the oldest Christian communities in the world.
The pontiff visited the war-torn Middle Eastern country March 5-8, including the capital city, Baghdad, as well as Mosul and the Ninevah Plain region in the country s north.
