Two Strathmore brothers hunted down her frightened son like an animal on a rural highway before one fatally shot him, a Siksika woman told a Calgary courtroom Tuesday.

Showing off his AR-15 rifle to a friend during a small drinking party turned deadly when the weapon fired, a Calgary court heard Friday.
Crown prosecutor Mike Ewenson told provincial court Judge Catherine Skene that a witness reported Ian Charles Abercrombie was pointing his AR-15 rifle in a “joking manner” when it discharged, killing Shane Smith instantly.

Abercrombie, 24, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of criminal negligence causing death in connection with the June 6 incident. He had been charged with second-degree murder.
