UC Berkeley permits outdoor recreation, exercise for sequestering students

According to a UC Berkeley student affairs email, students living in campus residence halls are allowed to leave their rooms for outdoor recreation and exercise given that they are not in isolation or quarantine. Students in residence halls are still required to self-sequester until Monday.

Though UC Berkeley students living in the residence halls are required to self-sequester until Monday, they are now permitted to leave their rooms and floors for outdoor recreation and exercise as COVID-19 cases decline.
According to a student affairs email sent Friday, students with green badges in the eTang portal, or those who are not in isolation or quarantine, can leave their rooms to get fresh air, go on walks or exercise between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The year 2020 is finally over. And while we’re still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and battling other challenges 2020 brought, there is hope in the form of many things: a vaccine, a new president and the return of Cal track and field. Other sports such as football and basketball have had their time to shine now a new sport steals the spotlight.
With the release of Cal track and field’s 2021 indoor schedule, some of the uncertainty that’s surrounded the spring season since last March has been resolved. Working in small cohorts and staying motivated throughout all the unknown, the Bears have trained together since September 2020 in preparation for the possibility of a season.

BERKELEY – The California women s tennis team returns to action for the first time in nine months when the 19th-ranked Golden Bears host Saint Mary s on Thursday at 12 p.m. at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Bears continue play on Saturday and Sunday when they compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
Under current health protocols, fans are not allowed to attend Cal Athletics home events. Fans can watch home tennis matches at the Hellman Tennis Complex through Cal s live stream. This year was a rough one for college sports, to say the very least. The idea that some senior athletes devoted their entire college careers to a sport that was canceled only partway through the season is devastating, and the on-again, off-again startup of fall sports took fans on an emotional roller coaster they did not deserve
.
In the chaos that was the constantly changing Pac-12 guidelines for when to resume play, there were a few glimmers of hope including one especially bright glimmer, but I’ll get to that later. Here’s a recap of what Cal sports in 2020 looked like, starting with an era that feels so very far away but wasn’t actually that long ago.
