Two big things happened in Eatontown on the evening of Friday, May 14.
Jersey Shore guitar legend Bobby Bandiera made his return to the concert stage after a year away due to the pandemic, and he returned at the new Concerts on the Green concert series at Suneagles Golf Club in Eatontown.
Concerts on the Green, presented by the Count Basie Center for the Arts, is a socially distanced pop-up venue that accommodates 500 seated fans under a tent near the course’s Gibbs Hall. There’s a lot of like. There isn’t a bad view of the stage, the sound is fine and the food, by Chef Joe D’Esposito of Tavern 19, is tasty.
RED BANK - Dennis McGinnis got ink in his blood from an early age.
“My dad worked several jobs to make ends meet back in the day and one of those jobs was running the printing press,” McGinnis said, recalling those days working out of the family garage. “I remember he would hand-feed business cards to my brother and I. We would stack them on a cookie sheet and we would use a saltshaker as a powder on top of them.
“From there, we would put them in the oven and count to 30, and then the heat from the oven would act as a form of thermography,” McGinnis said. “My brother and I were doing that since the second grade, so I have always had printing in my blood.”
