EDMONTON There was a time when the Sedin twins were the cycle and the Edmonton Oilers were the track.
When the Vancouver Canucks needed a goal, Henrik and Daniel simply hopped over the boards and furnished one. As simple as putting together a Billy bookcase.
Either Danny pumped one past some faceless Oilers goalie, or Henrik bounced one in off of Alex Burrows’ pants.
Whatever, the two points were an “on-demand” item for Vancouver during the years that they were a Western Conference powerhouse, while the Oilers were in the midst of their multi-decade rebuild.

The Dallas Stars were in the Edmonton postseason bubble last summer for 66 days, longer than any other team. Jason Robertson was there for all of it, but didn t get a single minute of game action. I took warm-ups for a couple games, the 21-year-old said. That was the closest I ever got.
The Stars 2017 second-round pick, coming off his first professional season in the AHL, was called up as a black ace throughout the 2020 playoffs. It s a typical assignment for a rising star, in a very atypical year.

Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid reached 556 points in his 400th NHL game Saturday in a 4-1 win against the Calgary Flames, joining a list of decorated players.
McDavid entered Saturday s game with 553 points in 399 games and by the end of one-goal, two-assist performance against the Flames, he eclipsed Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby s 554 points through 400 games. Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky holds the record of most points produced in 400 games at 935.
Only six players have produced more points than McDavid through 400 games Gretzky, Mario Lemieux (774), Peter Stastny (607), Mike Bossy (598), Jari Kurri (570) and Eric Lindros (563).

Connor McDavid said scoring 100 points in the shortened 2020-21 NHL season remains a possibility with seven games left but is not something he s concerned about.
The Edmonton Oilers center has scored 87 points (29 goals, 58 assists) in 49 games and has a 16-point lead on teammate Leon Draisaitl in the race for the Art Ross Trophy as the leading scorer in the NHL, an award he won twice in his first five seasons (2016-17, 2017-18). He is on pace to finish with 99 after scoring three points in a 4-1 win against the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Connor McDavid is already known as the best player in the world but the Edmonton Oilers star is somehow on pace for the best scoring season in decades.
After a four-point night during a 6-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, McDavid now has 81 points in just 46 games.
That makes him the fifth-quickest to score 80 points in a season since 1995-96.

McDavid has a 15-point lead in the scoring race and is averaging a ridiculous 1.76 points per game. He needs 19 points over the final 10 games (1.9 points per game) to reach the century mark this season.
