CHARLESTON Deadline for art submissions to the 2021 Youth Congressional Art competition has been extended to March 19, organizers said.
The competition is open to high school students with exceptions made for schools with 7th through 12th grades on one campus. Submissions of artwork can be mailed or hand delivered by the deadline to the Culture Center in Charleston where COVID-19 procedures will be in place.
The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History will open the exhibit on April 9 at the Culture Center.
Submissions can be in any one of the following categories: paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer generated and photography. Each entry must be original in concept, design and execution and may not violate U.S. copyright laws. Each student can submit up to two entries.

Music accessories manufacturer J. D’Addario & Company has signed a 10-year lease for 3,650 s/f of prebuilt office space at the Pioneer Building, the mixed-use property at 41 Flatbush Avenue.
Located in the heart of the BAM Cultural District, close to Barclays Center in Downtown Brooklyn, the building has become a center for creative, entertainment, and technology companies, including Gimlet Media/Spotify, Blick Art Materials, Blue State Digital, and Apple.
