MONTEREY PARK, Calif. (AP) A gunman shot a man and woman to death at a Southern California restaurant in an apparently targeted attack and then fled, authorities said Tuesday.
Officers called to Music BBQ Bar in Monterey Park on Monday found both victims with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso and both were pronounced dead at the scene, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
“It appears the suspect knew and specifically targeted the victims,” it said. “This incident does not appear to be a random act of violence.”

Woman fatally stabbed while walking dogs in random attack

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) A 64-year-old Asian woman has ben fatally stabbed while walking her dogs in what police in Southern California are calling a random attack.
Officers and paramedics responding to 911 calls about a woman lying on the street Saturday morning found Ke Chieh Meng bleeding with multiple stab wounds, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a spokesman for the Riverside police department.
She was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries, he said.
While officers were investigating the stabbing, authorities received calls from residents in the neighborhood about a woman walking through their yards, Railsback said. They took Darlene Stephanie Montoya, 23, of Monterey Park. into custody and booked her for investigation of murder, weapons violation and being under the influence of an illegal drug.
