Marxist co-founder of Black Lives Matter, Patrisse Cullors, was paid $20,000 a month to sit on the board of a radical prison reform group, financial records show. In 2019 alone, Reform LA Jails paid anti-capitalist  activist Cullors a staggering $191,000 via her firm, Janaya and Patrisse Consulting. According to financial records submitted to the California Fair Political Practices Commission, the description for each of the seven reported payments to the Cullors’ firm that year read: “P. Cullors, Principal Officer, Business Owner.” Cullors was apparently paid for her role as chairwoman of Reform LA Jails. However, unclear why the group began paying Cullors through her firm, which is named after the BLM co-founder and her spouse, Janaya Khan.

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has suspended its search for a new chief investment officer to replace Ben Meng, who resigned in August following an ethics complaint. CalPERS officials say they do not expect a new search to resume until early July. The pension system’s CEO, Marcie Frost, made the disclosures in a press release, putting a temporary end to the search that began after Meng resigned.

Community Mourns Loss of DUSD Trustee

DUBLIN — Hundreds of people attended a candlelight vigil and wrote condolences and prayers on social media this week to pay tribute to Dublin Unified School District (DUSD) Trustee Catherine Kuo, who was struck and killed by a car while distributing food outside at Fallon Middle School. Kuo, a 48-year-old wife and mother of a son and daughter, died March 24 at Eden Memorial Medical Center in Castro Valley, where she was taken following the morning accident. “We would like to honor one of our local super heroes in the hopes that remembering her what she cared about and what she lived for will help us all to become in some small measure, local superheroes in our families, neighborhoods and beyond to keep her memory alive as we live out her dreams for a better future,” her family wrote in tribute on the site, gatheringus.com.
