Cal/OSHA to decide on update to workplace mask rules

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) California workplace regulators are considering ending mask rules if every employee in a room has been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
But the rules being considered Thursday by Cal/OSHA frustrate business groups because they set a higher standard than the state plans to soon adopt for social settings.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says fully vaccinated people can skip face coverings and distancing in virtually all situations.
California is set to follow that recommendation starting June 15.
With California planning to lift COVID-19 restrictions on business activity and gatherings on June 15, Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state's mask-wearing mandate will be mostly lifted as well but not entirely.

LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - Governor Gavin Newsom delivered his third State of the State address Tuesday amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The event was held virtually at an empty Dodger Stadium which previously served at the nation s largest COVID-19 testing site.
The address was delivered at the stadium days after the state announced that it will allow fans to attend baseball games once counties move into the red tier.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) California Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a law aimed at returning public school students to classrooms.
Newsom signed the law on Friday, a day after it passed the state Legislature by a wide margin.
The law offers $2 billion to school districts that provide in-person instruction by the end of March. It also offers another $4.6 billion for all schools to help students catch up on what they have missed.
