IN MY ORBIT: The California Adios Is a Reality, but We Can Still Stem the Tide

For the first time in state history, we lost a seat in Congress this week. If the California Exodus is a myth, apparently the Census Bureau is in on it. We actually would have lost two seats if Gavin Newsom and the Legislature hadn’t spent $182 million to juice the Census headcount. Florida and Texas, meanwhile, gained several seats. California’s loss reflects population changes over the last decade. But much of the damage was done by Newsom the last two years. His own Administration reports 136,000 more people moved out than moved in during just one of those years. Overall, a staggering 53 percent of residents say they’re contemplating a departure. California was once a place where anyone could get ahead; it’s now a place many can’t wait to leave behind. Our state’s inherent beauty and countless wonders are being overwhelmed by the failure of our politics.

Caitlyn Jenner Lags Behind Faulconer, Cox, Ose in Challenge to Gavin Newsom, Poll Shows

Caitlyn Jenner Lags Behind Faulconer, Cox, Ose in Challenge to Gavin Newsom, Poll Shows On 5/11/21 at 12:30 PM EDT A new poll from the University of California, Berkeley s Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) and the Los Angeles Times found that Jenner had the least support among Californians, with only 6 percent of respondents saying they would vote to have her replace Newsom. Mark DiCamillo, director of the poll, told the Times that despite the widespread media attention Jenner has garnered since announcing her bid, there doesn t seem to be a significant constituency for her candidacy. Even among Republicans, only 13 percent say they d be inclined to vote for her, DiCamillo said. It s a very poor showing.

Why are Local and State Officials Leading LA and California into the Abyss?

RANTZ & RAVEZ-The long list of associated problems throughout California are related to the actions or inactions of elected and appointed officials of our city and state. The fact that California lost one Congressional seat for the first time in state history and other states are picking up additional seats reflects the fact that businesses and residents are moving away in large numbers. This is due to some logical reasons I will explain in this edition of RantZ & RaveZ.      California spent $182 million on an outreach program encouraging everyone including immigrants to participate in the most recent Census Count. It is estimated that 70% of California’s households participated in the Census. Even with all the effort and funds pushed by officials, the state could not hold onto the 53 congressional seats and associated influence in Congress.
