Language Movement paved ways for country’s independence: PM 994 DHAKA, Feb 20, 2021 (BSS) – Reiterating her vow for a dignified Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the Language Movement has paved the ways of the country’s independence to all achievements. “Bangali nation has achieved all things through struggles at each stage of life and anyone didn’t offer those to us cordially,” she said. The premier was addressing Ekushey Padak (award) distribution ceremony as chief guest at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here, joining virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban. Those people who have interest to know the Language Movement to independence as well as all achievements in details, she requested them to go through the Secret Documents of Intelligence Branch (IB) on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

47th anniversary programme of Shilpakala Academy begins BSS 20th February, 2021 11:54:48 A two-day programme marking the 47th founding anniversary of the country’s leading cultural institution Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy began on the academy premises today. The programme began with the hoisting of the academy flag at 10am. A discussion and cultural function was arranged at Nandan Mancha at 6pm. State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid joined the function as the chief guest with Shilpakala Academy Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky in the chair. Cultural Affairs Secretary Md Badrul Arefin attended it as the special guest and Shilpakala Academy Secretary Md Nawsad Hossain gave the welcome address.

Amar Ekushey: Rab DG says security beefed up everywhere BSS 20th February, 2021 09:21:03 Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Saturday said necessary security measures have been taken across the country for the smooth and peaceful observance of the Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day on Sunday. “We don’t have any information over any possible subversive act but security has been beefed up across the country, including Dhaka. In coordination with the members of other forces, Rab will monitor the important places and divisional cities in plainclothes to prevent any evil attempt,” he said.

Nation pays tributes to language movement martyrs 614 File Photo DHAKA, Feb 21, 2021 (BSS) – The supreme sacrifice of the language heroes on this day 69 years back is being remembered as people are paying glowing tributes to 1952 language martyrs by placing wreaths at the altar of the Central Shaheed Minar at midnight maintaining health guidelines. Military secretaries to the President and the Prime Minister placed wreaths on their behalf at the Central Shaheed Minar at one minute past zero hours. The immortal song on Amar Ekushey–“Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushey February”- was playing on the loudspeaker on the occasion. Later, sergeant-at-arms on behalf of Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on behalf of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and GM Quader on behalf of Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begun Rowshan Ershad placed wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar.
