Sprung!! set to expand with major funding announcement

Last year, the dance company opened NORPA s theatre season with their production of O How I Dreamt of Things Impossible which centred on the participants sharing their story of what it is like to live with a disability. Ahead of the season opening last year, NORPA s Artistic Director and CEO, Julian Louis said the company was something locals should celebrate. Sprung!! is a great testament to the drive and commitment that a small, independent dance and performing arts company needs to have to succeed, he said. I m endlessly impressed by their dedication to their craft and to the dancers. Sprung!! is one of the only dedicated performance ensembles in our region, that in itself is something to celebrate.

Create NSW has announced 97 recipients will share in $5.045 million funding through Round 1 of the 2020/21 Arts and Cultural Funding Program. In Hearts Wake was one of three local acts which will receive funding for the program. The band is set to head to Bangalow to record a seven track EP comprising of seven songs, five new works and two previously released reimagined songs in an unplugged style. The $17,750 will cover the recording process while the EP will be mixed and produced in Michigan.

City council approved funding for a daytime warming centre at a meeting on Dec. 21, voting unanimously to allocate $46,000 to staff the centre, and up to $20,000 for operating expenses.
