North Cheyenne Canyon Road closes for most of May

The Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department is closing North Cheyenne Canyon Road during weekdays in May while construction crews work on a parking lot improvement project, a city news release said. The closure began Monday and lasts until May 28, and runs between the northern boundary of North Cheyenne Cañon Park to Helen Hunt Falls, the release said. The project aims to expand a gravel lot from 75 non-designated spots to 92 designated spaces at the intersection of North Cheyenne Canyon Road, High Drive and Gold Camp Road, the release said. Concrete curbs and gutters will also be added along with paved surfaces and accessible parking spaces.

As reported in our earlier story, the virtual opening on April 22 Earth Day drew 500 attendees, and began with a video created by guest speaker and leading Waterfront Center supporter Rick Steves. “Earth Day is a fitting day for this event given the LEED Gold certification and many green features of the new center,” Steves said. During the video, Steves reviewed the roots of Edmonds’ commitment to its seniors, going back more than 50 years to the original Edmonds Senior Center and how this evolved into today’s new multi-generational Waterfront Center.

City makes organizational changes

City makes organizational changes May 6, 2021 The City of Kingston has made a number of organizational changes aimed at providing continuity of service, adding focus to key initiatives outlined in the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan and supporting Kingston through the pandemic and its recovery.  The changes below go into effect on May 10. To better target services supporting the arts, culture and heritage-related needs of our community, the City will reframe its Cultural Services department as Arts & Culture Services and create a new Heritage Services department. To assist with pandemic recovery and implement a number of economic development strategies, resources will be added to the Office of Strategy, Innovation and Partnerships – including the addition of a new Rural Economic & Community Development Manager.
