Distinct texture and colour composition stand out in the paintings by Iraqi artist Falah Al Saeedi being showcased at a virtual exhibition dubbed “Prism” launched by the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) on its website.
Al Saeedi’s stunning colour layering and use of geometric patterns result to highly complex timeless works akin to classic paintings by masters. With varying subjects-from Arabian stallions to warriors mounted on horseback-the paintings are a visual feast which exudes Al Saeedi’s unique style and the technical expertise the artist has mastered through over three decades of prolific art practice.

Katara, Diplomatic Institute sign MoU

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Diplomatic Institute (DI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aiming at cooperation in the field of organising joint cultural events, scientific research, diplomatic studies, and the exchange of experts and researchers to spread public awareness of various cultural issues.
The agreement was signed by Director General of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, and Director of the Diplomatic Institute (DI) Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Horr.
On this occasion, the Director-General of Katara expressed his pleasure at signing this joint project between Katara and the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praising this important partnership that would provide a lot for diplomats, researchers, and students. 1,498 vie for Prophet’s Poet prize

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has announced that it had received 1,498 poems to compete for the Katara Prize for Prophet’s Poet (Peace be upon him). The award activities will be organised from September 19 to 24.
January 31 was the deadline for submission of entries for the Prize, which is marking its fifth edition this year.
Katara General Manager Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said that the number of poets participating in the fifth edition of the Katara Prize for Prophet’s Poet (Peace be upon him) is the largest since the award was launched in 2016, with an increase of 29 percent over the fourth edition, in which 1,158 poets participated, noting that the prize committee of the fifth edition received 1,358 poems in the classical category, and 140 poems in Al Nabati poetry category.
