Sunderbans remains a heritage site for another year Diplomatic Correspondent | Published: 00:02, Jul 25,2021 | Updated: 00:04, Jul 25,2021     The standing of the Sunderbans as one of the world heritage sites will remain unchanged for a year as the World Heritage Committee of the UNESCO has decided to review the status in its next session in 2022.   ‘The Sunderbans standing remains unchanged,’ UNESCO official Roni Amelan said in an e-mail to New Age on Saturday with reference to a WHC decision made in a session in China on Friday. The WHC has asked the Bangladesh government to complete the current strategic environmental assessment of the south-west region on conserving the outstanding universal value of the mangrove forest by August 2021, and submit the final report of the SEA and a strategic environment management plan for a review by IUCN and examination by the committee in its 45th session in 2022.
