There were 224 calls for service reported to the Teton County, Idaho Sheriffâs Office between April 16 and April 22. Officers performed 38 traffic stops and 21 security checks of local businesses. There were three accidents and zero DUIs, and residents called in 61 controlled burns.
DECATUR â A Decatur man who made âfurtive movementsâ when he was stopped at a police roadside safety check Saturday night went on to arouse suspicions even more when he was asked to get out of his vehicle, a sworn affidavit said.
â.So he got out of the car and stayed partially bent over,â said State Police Trooper Ronald Tisdale who was manning the check area at the intersection of U.S. 51 and King Street. âBased on my training and experience, this is consistent with someone attempting to hide contraband in and around their crotch and waist.â
The contraband turned out to be a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine. Tisdale said the gun was loaded with a round in the chamber.
California caveat: undocumented immigrant families who did not qualify for federal aid from the previous rescue packages can receive checks of up to $1,200 if they meet the earned income tax credit qualifications.
