Vigil planned for 12-year-old girl shot and killed in Bakersfield Friday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â A vigil has been planned for 12-year-old Ahmaya Alyss Alexander, the girl killed during a shooting in the 1000 block of L Street Friday.
According to the coroner s report, Alexander was shot around 10:45 p.m. Friday night. She was taken to Kern Medical where she died from her injuries shortly after.
The Wendale Davis Foundation shared on Facebook a planned vigil for Alexander. It is scheduled to take place Tuesday at 5 p.m. at L and 11th streets.

One person airlifted to Kern Medical after a shooting in Wasco

WASCO, Calif (KERO) â A person was airlifted to Kern Medical after a shooting in Wasco according to the Kern County Sheriff s office.
According to KCSO the shooting took place on 5th and D street just after 12:30 a.m. When officers arrived they found one person suffering from gunshot wounds.

Celia Maldonado has made three appointments to get a COVID-19 vaccine since late March, and she’s canceled each one of them.
“I canceled an appointment just this week,” the 31-year-old second-grade dual Spanish/English language immersion teacher said. “I’ve been feeling super, super anxious about this whole vaccine thing because I feel like there’s no clear answer to my concerns. It’s sort of driving me crazy.”
