Karnataka Home Minister indicates stricter lockdown measures in days to come

Bengaluru, May 20: Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday indicated that police and the Home Department will go for stricter implementation of lockdown measures, like seizure of vehicles, in the days to come, by making them more effective, as the state battles second wave of Covid-19.
The Minister s statement comes, as the government is likely to take a decision on extending the lockdown in the state, in a couple of days. As cases are increasing in rural areas, Deputy Commissioners of various districts have imposed lockdown measures strictly, people should also understand the seriousness and cooperate, Bommai said.

Cyclone Tauktae expected to become very severe cyclonic storm by tomorrow: IMD ANI | Updated: May 15, 2021 18:26 IST
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], May 15 (ANI): The cyclonic storm Tauktae is expected to become a severe cyclonic storm within the next 12 hours and a very severe cyclonic storm by Sunday, said K Santhosh, Director (Thiruvananthapuram), India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday. Within the next 12 hours cyclone Tauktae is expected to become a severe cyclonic storm and by Sunday it is expected to become a very severe cyclonic storm while moving north westward to the Gujarat coast. By May 18 it is expected to cross Gujarat by evening, Santhosh said.
