Former president Asif Ali Zardari invited on Thursday Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam - Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to attend the December 27 rally commemorating the death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
In a telephonic conversation, the two discussed the overall political situation in the country and the Pakistan Democratic Movement s (PDM) anti-government campaign, the second phase of which was launched a day ago with a rally in Mardan.

MULTAN/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday said sooner or later, the selected rulers will have to go.
He was addressing a reception held for party workers arrested ahead of the PDM rally in Multan. Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and all his four sons were absent from the reception. Only Gillani’s younger brother Ahmed Mujtaba Gillani was present.
Bilawal paid a rich tribute to party workers held before the PDM Multan rally. He said the workers arrested by the police deserve salute. The people of Pakistan would remember their great contributions and sacrifices. Bilawal said: “You are the only people who have challenged the selected rule.” He said PPP workers are not afraid of FIRs. Only Jiyalas are standing in front of the police force when the state restricted the right to democratic freedom.
Security plans for Christmas, December 27 events finalised

The Sindh Police Department has finalised security plans for Christmas and the death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
Officials said on Monday Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmed Mehar held a meeting at his office, which was attended by senior officers, including additional IGs and DIGs from across the province, to finalise comprehensive security plans for the upcoming Christmas and December 27 events.
IGP Mehar gave separate instructions to the Karachi police chief and other officials to finalise the security plans. According to the directives issued on this occasion, the services of 19 senior superintendents of police, superintendents of police and 43 deputy superintendents of police have been placed at the disposal of the DIG Larkana Range, in connection with security duties and arrangements for the 13th Youm-e-Shahadat of Benazir Bhutto to observed December
Bilawal discusses PDM s strategy, political situation with Akhtar Mengal

In a meeting with Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Akhtar Mengal, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari discussed steps taken by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) against the government so far.
The PPP chairman, on Saturday, arrived at the BNP-M chief s residence, where they exchanged views on the country s political and social matters. PPP started the process of providing rights to Balochistan, Bilawal said, adding that the development of Pakistan is not possible without removing the deprivations of Balochistan.
