The City of Tulsa announced it has chosen the Moody Nolan/JCJ Architecture team to renovate the Greenwood Cultural Center.
Moody Nolan is one of the largest Black-owned architectural firms in the U.S. The firm has designed multiple African American historical and cultural projects across the country. According to
KTUL, Moody Nolan was also the first Black-owned firm to win the 2021 AIA Architecture Firm of the Year award.

Moody Nolan has much to celebrate. Black History Month is one. Receiving the 2021 AIA Architecture Firm Award is another. Still another is its diversity. The Black-owned and led firm with headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, and 10 more offices nationwide counts 42 percent women and 32 percent identifying as minorities in its staff of 230. Kudos to the team, but especially to Curtis J. Moody who had the vision and bravery to start an architecture firm in 1982 in the midst of an economic downturn with just one graduate student. By year’s end, however, Moody and Associates had grown to nine staff members, and Curtis joined forces with the engineering firm Howard E. Nolan and Associates. Ergo the name of the father-son-helmed firm we know today. The Diamondbacks system is vastly underrated. The group includes top-end talent, flame-throwers, high-floor guys, and everything else in between. What’s even better is that there are plenty of very fantasy-friendly prospects here as well. From Corbin Carroll’s 20/30 potential to Kristian Robinson’s 40 home run ceiling to Alek Thomas’s all-around game, there are fantasy gems all over the place. Recently the D-Backs have placed an emphasis on hard-throwing draft picks, and those guys are sprinkled throughout the system too.
Looking further down on the list shows some very safe bets, meaning there are likely many future major leaguers here. Granted, they may not become superstars, but there are regulars, utility guys, and solid bullpen options here to pick from. There is a lot to like and it’s starting to rival any of the top-end farm systems. With the team still acquiring prospects, it should only continue to get better in 2021.
