NEW YORK (AP) â Usually at home when the playoffs start, the New York Knicks will be on their home court this time.
Julius Randle capped his All-Star season with 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, and the Knicks beat the Boston Celtics 96-92 on Sunday to clinch the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.
RJ Barrett scored 22 points for the Knicks, who won their third straight to finish 41-31 and earn home-court advantage for a first-round series with the Atlanta Hawks. The Knicks are headed to the postseason for the first time since winning the Atlantic Division title in 2012-13.

There was a lot of scoreboard watching going on as the Celtics battled the Knicks. New York’s lead had ballooned while it was a close, back-and-forth game between the Hornets and Wizards in Washington.
But the bench Celtics were on an impressive 17-2 run in the fourth quarter, forcing a few more eyeballs back to their game. What was a commanding New York lead was all but gone as just a point remained between the upset-minded C’s and the Knicks, who were gunning to lock down homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
