Alligators trapped at University of Florida s Lake Alice

Two University of Florida students enjoying a picnic Tuesday near Lake Alice were joined by an unexpected guest  an alligator. The alligator came out of the water, scared the students off, sat on their picnic blanket and proceeded to eat their food, UF police said. Alligator trappers Curtis Robinson and Ron Sanderson, both contractors with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program, were called out later that day in response. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, the trappers had caught two alligators around the Lake Alice overlook area and were attempting to catch one more, according to FWC s North Central Florida spokeswoman, Karen Parker. One was 8 feet and 8 inches long, and the other was 6 feet and 6 inches long. They have both been killed.
