Several neighbors have spoken out against the project and formed an opposition campaign. Around a half dozen attended Monday’s Henderson County Board of Commissioners meeting to express concerns about increased traffic, decreased property values, and potential crime at the site.
The ZBA meeting to take up the matter was originally rescheduled for June 30, but the attorney for the applicant had an issue with the date, according to Project Development Planner and Zoning Administrator Matt Champion.
An agreement was reached last week for the July 28 meeting date, which will be held at 4 p.m. at the Thomas Auditorium at Blue Ridge Community College.
Special Olympics torch run to pass through area tomorrow
Runners for Special Olympics Virginia will carry the touch through Woodbridge on Thursday, June 10 on its way to the games in Richmond.
About 9 a.m., runners will gather at a fire station at 15219 Holleyside Drive in Montclair, and from there run to the Gar-Field Eastern District police station at 15948 Donald Curtis Drive, via Cardinal Drive.
Prince William police tell us:
New this year: The runners will be transported from Gar-Field to PWC DFR Station 17, at Cardinal and Waterway drives. Runners will begin here and follow the route down Cardinal Drive to the entrance area of Gar-Field at Donald Curtis and Cardinal drives. Any Special Athletes who choose to run will start at this point and run to the fuel pumps area to complete the race. The route will not continue down Route 1 this year, so the total route is 3.6 miles.

IDAHO FALLS Red stuff splattered on the road was slowing traffic on 17th Street on Wednesday afternoon.
It turns out a pickup truck pulling a trailer had spilled its load of ketchup.
The Idaho Falls Police Department got called about the unusual mess around 12:45 p.m., according to department spokeswoman Jessica Clements. Officers learned the pickup driver was hauling large industrial bags of ketchup, and he had not properly secured his load.
The driver turned around a corner quickly, and the bags fell off the trailer and burst open on the road. Officers estimate there are 20 gallons of spilled ketchup.
