The applicant, Matthew Cooke, is proposing the construction of a 125,758-square-foot storage facility. Several neighbors have spoken out against the project and formed an opposition campaign. Around a half dozen attended Monday’s Henderson County Board of Commissioners meeting to express concerns about increased traffic, decreased property values, and potential crime at the site. The ZBA meeting to take up the matter was originally rescheduled for June 30, but the attorney for the applicant had an issue with the date, according to Project Development Planner and Zoning Administrator Matt Champion. An agreement was reached last week for the July 28 meeting date, which will be held at 4 p.m. at the Thomas Auditorium at Blue Ridge Community College.

The route will not continue down Route 1 this year, so the total route is 3.6 miles.

It turns out a pickup truck pulling a trailer had spilled its load of ketchup. The Idaho Falls Police Department got called about the unusual mess around 12:45 p.m., according to department spokeswoman Jessica Clements. Officers learned the pickup driver was hauling large industrial bags of ketchup, and he had not properly secured his load. The driver turned around a corner quickly, and the bags fell off the trailer and burst open on the road. Officers estimate there are 20 gallons of spilled ketchup.
