A WORKSHOP offering face-to-face art and wellbeing sessions will take place in Kirkby Lonsdale this weekend. The Phoenix Rising Art Taster programme will begin on Sunday 23 May and starts with a family friendly one-day workshop called Kirkby Towntastic. It will also offer a two-week series of the Kirkby Towntastic workshop from Sunday 6th June to Sunday 20th June as well as a one-day Tree of Life workshop on Saturday 5th June. Kirkby Lonsdale CIC say these workshops aim to give residents of the Lune Valley the opportunity to recharge, socialise and learn something new in a safe and creative space.

There are many compelling reasons why the Tour O’Booths cyclists are getting on their bikes next week.
Their motivations may be varied, but they will all be united by the same desire to make a difference to a very special charity.
Now they are hoping the public too will back their fundraising campaign for Cure Leukaemia. The cyclists, ranging from executives to shop workers and suppliers, want to raise at least £30,000 for the small charity with the big goal of finding a cure for blood cancer.
Among the places now able to welcome people back inside are pubs, cafés and cinemas. Brad Muir, co-owner of Brew Brothers in Highgate, Kendal, said it was good to be back. “Comments from the kitchen are that it’s been really nice to be putting food on plates as opposed to food in boxes,” he said. “It’s about people - we feel as though Brew Brothers is part of the community. “It hasn’t been without its problems. “You sort of forget what you do. “You’re running Uber [Eats] and doing takeaway stuff - you almost feel as though you’re a takeaway.”
