Gilford superintendent faces domestic violence charges

The superintendent of the Gilford School District is facing domestic violence assault charges stemming from a July incident in Concord and is currently on leave from the school district, according to the chair of the school board.
Kirk Bietler, 57, of Concord, is facing two charges, one of domestic violence simple assault and one of simple assault, in relation to an incident that occurred at Bietler’s Concord home near the Shaker Road School late on July 6. According to court documents, Bietler, who is identified as James K. Bietler, is accused of striking a female family member with his hand.

Students, staff quarantining throughout district
Officials confident that no in-school transmission took place
April 28, 2021Around 126 Gilford students and five school staff members are in quarantine after multiple people tested positive for COVID-19, though the superintendent says none of the transmission took place in the schools themselves.
Superintendent Kirk Beitler wrote an update with the situation on the district s Web site. As of April 19, a large number of positive COVID-19 cases has been reported in all three schools with even more students and staff quarantining. At Gilford High School alone, more than 100 students were in quarantine.
As of last Monday, those in quarantine included 107 students and three staff members at GHS, 16 students and one staff member at Gilford Middle School, and three students and one staff member at Gilford Elementary School.
