It’s not often a house and its owners seem kindred spirits, but that really was the case for this structure and the couple who commissioned it in 1984 Harris and Alice Weston. He was an attorney and she, a photographer; together they were well known in this city as art collectors, arts patrons, and generous supporters of the Jewish community.

Set on a one-acre lot with sweeping Ohio River views, the contemporary home served as both a refuge and a place to entertain for the empty nesters, who worked and spent extensive time at arts and nonprofit organizations and events downtown. It was also the final project by Mid-Century-Modern icons Carl Strauss and Ray Roush as partners, and served as a home gallery for the Westons’ renowned art collections, with works by Dine, Kandinsky, and De Kooning (among countless others). PANAMA CITY Hope still remains for a new federal courthouse in Panama City.
Bay County officials are compiling a bill to send to the federal government for the recently nixed project to turn the county juvenile courthouse into a federal courthouse. Some officials said they hope the cost might persuade the federal administrators to reconsider their decision on the project.
The federal General Services Administration (GSA), which had a lease on the juvenile courthouse, informed Bay County officials earlier this month that the government has decided not to relocate any federal agencies to that courthouse in Panama City. The county has spent years renovating the building in preparation for federal occupation.
January 19, 2021 - 7:00 AM A Kelowna realtor who was fined $1,000 for failing to pay a former employee wages has won an appeal to have the case revisited. In the Jan. 7 Employment Standards Tribunal decision, realtor Kevin Cheale argues former handyman, Bradley McDermott, just stopped coming to work and did not have his employment terminated as the tribunal had found and therefore was not owed severance pay. Tribunal member Carol Roberts agreed, saying the original tribunal delegate made an error by “acting on a view of the facts that could not reasonably be entertained.” Cheale, who owns a property management and rental business under the name Kevin Cheale Personal Real Estate Corporation, was previously fined $1,000 and ordered to pay McDermott $1,099 for wages, vacation pay, and compensation for length of service, following a tribunal ruling in July 2020.
CAT owners in Flintshire have been warned to be vigilant following a suspected poisoning incident over the Christmas period. RSPCA Cymru says it was contacted by the owner of Gizmo - a black and white domestic shorthair cat - after it was thought that he had been poisoned by antifreeze just before Christmas in the Bryn Onnen area in Flint. The cat was taken to a local vet on Christmas Eve after he became unwell with the vet confirming acute renal failure. Sadly he deteriorated rapidly and was put to sleep by the vet to prevent any further suffering on Boxing Day.
