Cash sceptical of call to overhaul sacking laws for harassers

The Morrison government says there is little evidence to justify a strict zero-tolerance approach to sexual harassment in unfair dismissal laws that would rule out reinstatement or compensation for perpetrators, as pushed by employers.
The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called for a major overhaul of dismissal laws so employers have no fear in sacking proven sexual harassers after the government agreed to clarify harassment as a sackable offence but left it open for dismissals to be unfair due to mitigating factors such as harshness.
A spokesman for Industrial Relations Michaelia Cash said more evidence was needed to justify the reforms.Â
