POSITIVE sewage tests for COVID-19 have been narrowed down to specific treatment plants, but locals in some areas aren t being directly warned in a loophole that could potentially allow the virus to slip through. Health Minister Yvette D Ath revealed last weekend that sewage in the Gold Coast, Townsville, Cleveland and North Cairns had tested positive for coronavirus. She and Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young urged residents of those areas to get a COVID test to ensure they were not contagious. But the Gold Coast has four sewage treatment plants, stretching from Pimpama in the north to Elanora in the south, a distance of almost 50km.

This year, for the first time, LB Heritage has created a Holiday Lights Cruise that provides people with maps and information to take a self-guided tour of a dozen historic homes dressed up in all their holiday finery.

TRACES of COVID-19 have been detected in wastewater at Ipswich treatment plants for the second time in three months.
Ipswich City Council was quick to assure residents in an online statement that detection of the dead virus material posed no risk to public health.
It has since been confirmed routine testing undertaken at Wacol and Carole Park Wastewater treatment plants last week returned the two positive results.
The find comes about six weeks following an initial positive detection at the Carole Park facility in October. Traces of COVID-19 were detected at the Wacol treatment plant during recent routine tests.
The areas serviced by the treatment plant include suburbs such as Springfield, Camira and Carole Park in Ipswich and Ellen Grove in Brisbane.

One of Brisbane’s well-known heritage sites, the Tristram’s Soft Drink Factory on the corner of Boundary and Mollison streets at West End, is to be revamped as The Soda Factory.
Built in 1930, it is now branded The Markets and includes several shops including a Coles supermarket, but after consultation between the new owners and the Tristram family, it will be rebranded as Soda Factory as part of a redevelopment during 2021.
