UPS is buying 10 electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles that will one day fly autonomously. The logistics giant will also build a charging station to power eVTOLs and electric vehicles. The aircraft are meant to replace small Cessna aircraft and speed up deliveries. A new breed of aircraft will soon be ferrying packages for UPS and it doesn t require an airport (or jet fuel). UPS is purchasing 10 electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft along with a charging station from the Vermont-based startup Beta Technologies with the option to increase the order to more than 150 with delivery expected in 2024. UPS declined to share the size of the deal.
