Kasada to Acquire 414-Key Safari Hotels & Conference Centre, the Largest Hospitality Complex in Namibia May 12, 2021 GMT JOHANNESBURG & PORT LOUIS, Mauritius & WINDHOEK, Namibia (BUSINESS WIRE) May 12, 2021 Funds advised by Kasada Capital Management today announced the acquisition of the 414-key Safari Hotels and Conference Centre in Windhoek, Namibia. This transaction will be made through Kasada Hospitality Fund LP (“Kasada”) and remains subject to approval by the Namibian Competition Commission. The hotel complex is strategically located within ten minutes of Windhoek’s city center and adjacent to Eros Airport. It consists of the 215-key Safari Court Hotel, the 199-key Safari Hotel and Namibia’s foremost Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions (MICE) venue, the Safari Court Conference Centre that includes a 1,600m 2 grand ballroom that can hold up to 2,400 delegates.

The new namesake of one of Gainesville’s oldest schools A new, modern sign was erected last fall outside of one of Gainesville’s oldest public schools, replacing another sign bearing the name of a Confederate brigadier general. The former J. J. Finley Elementary School, which served White students during segregation, is now named for a third generation Gainesvillian, Carolyn Beatrice Parker, whose paternal grandmother was enslaved. Carolyn Beatrice Parker was the granddaughter of Eliza Caro, who moved to Gainesville sometime after she was emancipated in 1865. Parker’s niece and namesake, Leslie Carolyn (Cosby) Edwards, said Caro was among the founding members of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, which was established in 1867. Jones amendment would end occupational tax in five Etowah cities

State Sen. Andrew Jones, R-Centre, on Monday announced two constitutional amendments he will offer in the Legislature, one mirroring his local bill designed to keep rendering plants out of Etowah County. The other? It would phase out occupational tax in the five Etowah County municipalities that impose it, over a 20-year period. There is a 2% tax on those who work in the municipalities of Attalla, Gadsden, Southside, Rainbow City and Glencoe. Jones, R-Centre, said that amounts to charging people to work in those cities. He said fewer than 30 Alabama cities impose occupational tax, and most set the rate at 1% or less of income.

Hugh Shine, Johnson Brothers Ford, Mac Haik Dodge, W&B Development, Don Ringler Chevrolet, Smile at the World Orthodontics, Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber, Ellis Heating and Air, JLB Construction, JDK Services, Vista Real Estate and Bell County Commissioner Bobby Whitson. Cash Parker, 13, of Stampede Creek 4-H sold his reserve grand champion market steer for $14,000.
