Wednesday, November 04, 2020 22:04 Hanoi (VNA) – Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue told Carolyn Turk, World Bank (WB)’s Country Director for Vietnam that Hanoi is in need of great resources for infrastructure development amidst its fast urbanisation, during their meeting in Hanoi on January 12. He said that in the past five years, the city attracted 25 billion USD of foreign direct investment ( FDI), with 4 billion USD in 2020 alone. Towards the goal of a growth rate of 7.5 percent in the next five years, total development investment of the city is expected to expand 12 percent per year. Hue noted Hanoi is undergoing rapid urbanization, thus requiring great resources for investment in socio-economic infrastructure. The city has set a target of obtaining an economic growth rate of approximately 7.5% per annum over the next five years, meaning its mobilized capital is expected to grow by about 12% per year.
