The Metropolitan Museum of Manila finally opens its doors (virtually) to art enthusiasts and the like. To celebrate, the museum is showcasing a retrospective of renowned Spanish-Filipino artist, Betsy Westendorp. The exhibit will be displayed at the MET ground floor Galleries, from 29 January to 15 March.
Although the pandemic has urged the museum to postpone its exhibit, they were quick to adapt to these changing times, eventually leading to the virtual exhibit of Betsy s awe-inspiring works.
The virtual reception and 3D tour hosted by Karen Davila was held on 29 January and streamed live on the MET Museum s Facebook page. Karen was able to interview Betsy together with her daughter Carmen Brias, which led to revelations of the artist s personal experiences. One of which was the time when Betsy was painting clouds when her daughter passed away and someone had discerned something quite different a tunnel.

Last January 15, Karen Davila was especially proud of her eldest son David who falls under the autism spectrum.
“David, our very own Van Gogh,” she posted, explaining that not only is art good for the soul, it’s also a great form of therapy. She further explains that studies have revealed that there is a strong connection between children under the autism spectrum and creative thinking.
“It makes me so proud to see David working. He is so devoted and disciplined in all he does, whether in art or in his studies, it inspires all of us at home,” Karen continues. “Love you so much, David. You are such a precious gift.”

Photographs are treasures, more so old ones that transport us back in time. This is what happened last night as veteran actress Charo Santos-Concio posted a priceless photo of her her very first magazine cover when she was just 15 years old.
“Just a little throwback… my first ever magazine cover at age 15. During my time, that was called the ‘hot pants, ” she shares.
The Weekly Women’s magazine is dated June 25, 1971, the photo features a young Charo Santos in a sleeveless denim romper with striking graphic hues paired with over-the-knee white boots. Both styles are reminiscent of the transition of fashion from the 1960s and 1970s.
