“Rogue One” star Ben Mendelsohn is set to star opposite Daisy Ridley in the psychological thriller “The Marsh King’s Daughter” that will be directed by “Divergent” filmmaker Neil Burger, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
The film is based on Karen Dionne’s 2017 book of the same name. According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Mendelsohn will play “Jacob Holbrook, the infamous ‘Marsh King,’ who years ago kept his young daughter, Helena (Ridley), and her mother captive in the wilderness for years.” After years of trying to escape her past, she must now hunt her father down after he escapes from prison.

Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelsohn, both of whom have appeared in Star Wars movies but never together, are set to appear in a new movie from Limitless director Neil Burger.
The movie is a psychological thriller called The Marsh King s Daughter. Mendelsohn is lined up to play Jacob Holbrook, the Marsh King, who in the story kept his daughter and her mother imprisoned in the wilderness for a period of years, according to Deadline.

STXfilms has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to “The Marsh King’s Daughter,” a psychological thriller that will be directed by “Divergent” filmmaker Neil Burger and star Daisy Ridley.
“The Marsh King’s Daughter” is based on Karen Dionne’s 2017 book of the same name. It tells the story of Helena, who was kidnapped as a teenager by her father and kept in a remote cabin in the marshlands. After years of trying to escape her past, she must now hunt her father down after he escapes from prison. “The Revenant” writers Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith adapted the screenplay based on Dionne’s book.
