GREEN bin collections are being suspended until February, Cheshire West and Chester Council has confirmed. The authority says the move will ensure kerbside waste and recycling collections are maintained during the busy festive period and help the service cope with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Garden waste collection is normally suspended for four weeks over the winter period and this year was scheduled to happen between December 14 and January 10, 2021. Collection service calendars had been delivered to every household in the borough confirming the four-week garden waste suspension period. However, a decision has since been taken to extend this suspension from January 11 to February 8.

COUNCIL housing tenants in Ellesmere Port and Neston who are struggling to deal with the financial shock caused by the Covid-19 pandemic are being offered support through an innovative new online workshop. Social landlord ForHousing, the provider of the council’s housing management services, has launched Cash Chats – online sessions which are targeted at tenants who have accrued rent arrears due to the current crisis. The sessions provide information, advice and guidance for those affected by financial shock, or those who need additional support, enabling them to gain a greater understanding and more confidence around financial issues. CHESTER city centre businesses are braced for the busiest weekend of the year as people look to complete their Christmas shopping. As a result Cheshire West and Chester Council is closing Northgate Street to all vehicles to create more space for social distancing and make this weekend’s visit an even better experience .
