Fox News host Tucker Carlson has said that United Airlines new diversity initiative will eventually kill people.
On Tuesday, United the only major U.S. airline with its own flight school, United Aviate Academy announced its plan to train 5,000 new pilots by 2030. The airline wants at least half of the pilots to be women and people of color.
In an interview with CBS, United CEO Scott Kirby explained that his company wanted to increase diversity among its pilots because only 7 percent of the airline s pilots are female and only 13 percent aren t white.

MIAMI – By 2030, United Airlines (UA) plans to train 5,000 new pilots at its new pilot training academy, at least half being women and people of color.
Being the only major US airline with its own flight school, United Aviate Academy, UA announced in a statement that it would begin accepting applications for its commercial airline pilot training program. After completing the Aviate program’s criteria, all 5,000 pilots will be guaranteed a job with UA.
United aims to hire more than 10,000 pilots in the next decade and have the largest fleet of wide-body aircraft in North America, offering new candidates opportunities to advance their careers within UA, according to the airline.

United Airlines new initiative to increase representation among an upcoming generation of pilots sparked debate on social media this week, as some commended the company s intent to develop a more diverse training program while others strongly criticized it.
United announced on Twitter that it aims to train an incoming class of pilots in which enrollment rates of women and people of color equate those of white male students. Our flight deck should reflect the diverse group of people on board our planes every day, wrote United Airlines in Monday s announcement. The academy, backed by scholarship commitments from United Airlines and JPMorgan Chase, expects to enroll 100 students in 2021. The academy s first class of 20 pilots will begin their studies in the third quarter of 2021, with the class graduating in the first half of 2022.
