A lawyer for Iowa s largest business lobbying group asked the state Supreme Court on this week to strike down a Waterloo ordinance banning employers from requiring job seekers to disclose criminal convictions on their applications.  Ryan Koopmans, who represents the Iowa Association of Business & Industry, told justices during oral arguments Wednesday that Waterloo s so-called ban the box ordinance  a reference the box an applicant checks to indicate criminal convictions   illegally restricts hiring practices.
