George Jordan George Jordan was born in Williamson County, Tn. He entered in a service in Nashville and became one of the famous Buffalo Soldiers. All the soldiers were African American. The soldiers were made up of Black Civil War soldiers, former slaves, and previous black slaves that now had freedom. They got the name Buffalo Soldier because their hair. The Indians gave them that name the very first time they saw him. âHis officer tried to give him Medal of Honor but he refused several times.âHooper stated. Finally he accepted the honor.
