The EU is now in the eighth year of the implementation of the reformed Common Fisheries Policy. To satisfy the legal reporting obligations set out in Regulation 1380/2013, and to assess the progress made towards the achievement of its main objective, notably sustainability, the Commission adopts this Communication every year. The Communication reports on this by looking at: -  -  -  -  the implementation of the landing obligation. Ensuring that the exploitation of living marine biological resources restores and maintains populations of harvested species above levels that can produce the maximum sustainable yield (MSY), is the key objective of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). This also contributes to achieving good environmental status in European seas in 2021.

30 Lt. Cmdr. Tanya Cuprak, originally from Preston, Connecticut, joined the Coast Guard in 2007. She is now the engineering officer aboard USCGC Hamilton (WMSL 753) and was previously stationed aboard Hamilton from 2013 to 2015.   “I knew I wanted to wear a uniform, but as a 17-year-old high school student, I didn’t know much more than that,” Cuprak said. “I drove by the Coast Guard Academy every day on my way to work in high school and thought it looked like a nice place to be. After some research and learning, I would wear a uniform, it was essentially free schooling and a job after graduation, it made sense to apply.”
