African American Soul Dancing and Book Signing Featuring Frank R. Ross & Friends This Black Music Month event will showcase the marriage between movement and music in Black history and culture, especially as it relates to dance in the 20th and 21st centuries. The presentation will include accomplished dancers from Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, and Chicago as couples will demonstrate dances and performances based on Frank R. Ross's Soul Dancing! The Essential African American Cultural Dance. After the dance demonstrations, Ross will facilitate a Q & A session about the book and talk about offer suggestions for incorporating African-American dance into academic programs. An Ohio native, Ross graduated from Cleveland’s John Adams High School. A dancer, choreographer and retired physical education teacher and guidance counselor, Ross is the creator of the Grand March, the National African-American Folk Dance.
