Roald Kindem
Roald Amund Kindem was born in Northfield, Minnesota, on May 16, 1929, one of eight children born to Ingvald and Anna (Sekse) Kindem. Following his graduation from Northfield High in 1947, Roald enrolled at St. Olaf College, where, as a student-athlete, he majored in history and earned varsity letters in football and track. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf in the spring of 1951, Roald set aside a planned career in coaching when he sensed God calling him to public ministry. He enrolled at Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, in the fall of 51.

BALATON Services for Evelyn Johnson, 87, of Balaton will take place at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Russell. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Balaton.Visitation will continue from 1-2 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton. Masks are required at all indoor events and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
She died Sunday, May 2, 2021, at the Prairie Home McLaughlin House in Marshall.

We are Pastors Bert and Shelly Schultz serving at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jackson Center. We arrived for our new pastor call in August 2019 from northwest Wisconsin where we served as pastors for the past 20 years. The people of Grace and Jackson Center have welcomed us with open arms, and we are enjoying living in Ohio.
Amid all the changes brought about by COVID we are comforted and strengthened by the unchanging promises of God.
We certainly have faced many changes since March 2020 with the appearance of the coronavirus in our midst. Suddenly, we were no longer able to gather in large groups or worship in the manner in which we were accustomed. Basketball seasons were cut short including the playoffs and other sports cancelled or postponed. Schools were closed and virtual education at home was implemented. Local restaurants were closed for indoor dining and we ate home-
