Thanks to shoppers for a literal ton of support

Thanks to shoppers for a literal ton of support Carl Kieke I enjoyed a busy but great day May 1. It was made great by a variety of youth groups, Abilene’s four United Supermarket locations and their customers and employees. If you went to one of those stores between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day, you were probably met by Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, Girl Scout or Trail Life/American Heritage Girls members, offering you a flyer and encouraging you to pick up a couple of extra items for Food Bank of West Central Texas. Boy, did you ever respond! Combined, the four locations brought in 2,649 pounds of food items. In addition, even though it wasn’t requested, customers donated $1,451 for the Food Bank to purchase additional needed items.
