Defense attorneys in double homicide case withdraw

MADISON, Wis. (AP) Defense attorneys for a man accused of fatally shooting a Madison doctor and her husband last year were allowed to withdraw from the case Friday.
Andrew Martinez and Jeremiah Meyer-O’Day told Dane County Circuit Judge Ellen Berz during a brief hearing that a conflict had come up in their representation of Khari Sanford The 19-year-old Madison man is accused in the March 30, 2020 shooting deaths of Dr. Beth Potter and her husband, Robin Carre, the State Journal reported.
The couple’s bodies were found in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum the next morning by a jogger. Sanford was the boyfriend of the couple’s daughter.

MADISON (WKOW) - One of two teenagers charged in the March 2020 killings of prominent Madison physician Beth Potter and her husband Robin Carre is prepared to enter a plea of guilty or no contest to a charge in the case next month.
The planned plea agreement involving Ali jah Larrue, 19, was announced Tuesday during a Dane County Court hearing.
Both Larrue and Khari Sanford, 19, are both charged with two counts of being a party to the crime of first degree intentional homicide. During the hearing, it was not specified whether Larrue will enter a plea to that charge or to a lesser crime.

Sentencing for Larrue would be delayed until after the outcome of the case against his friend, Khari Sanford, who allegedly fired the shots that killed Dr. Beth Potter and her husband, Robin Carre, of Madison, last March.

MADISON, Wis. It’s been one year since a Madison doctor and her husband were shot and killed at the UW Arboretum.
Two teens, including one that had dated the couple’s daughter, face charges in the case. A Dane County judge ordered separate trials for 19-year-olds Khari Sanford and Ali’ja Larrue. Both have motion hearings in their cases next week.
In the meantime, friends, family and the community are remembering the couple. The UW-Madison Police Department sent a tweet out Wednesday honoring the couple.
